Rural Games & Adrenaline Seeking

A relaxed start to our final full day found the team off to the Hilux New Zealand Rural Games.

Picturesque Queenstown.

The weather was absolutely beautiful in Queenstown and the group were able to participate in different events including speed milking, turd tossing and cherry-pip-spitting.

Joey Conheady won his round of cherry-pip-spitting, landing his more than 8 metres down the mat! There were also high level competitions at the Rural Games including speed-fencing and wood chopping which kept the squad all entertained.

The group then headed off for the adrenaline pumping experience of the Shotover Jetboat Ride, down the narrow Shotover River. A miscommunication left Alec Young and Matt Glennen disillusioned and absent from the Shotover Jetboat Ride, allowing two random travelers the experience of a lifetime – joining the troop for an hour in place of the boys.

The famous ‘Fergburger’s’ were devoured as our last group dinner. There were enjoyed sitting on the lawn by the lake taking in the breathtaking surrounds of Queenstown.

Beautiful spot to discuss the learnings from tour & enjoy our last night together.

A brainwave from Alec Young saw us move out to the pier with our own personal busker, hand picked from the city streets to have a sing-along with the group. A perfect setting for our final night in New Zealand to discuss what we learnt on the trip and further develop friendships.
